New Client Info
If you are considering beginning counselling with Emily please review the following:
Step One
Step 1: Find out if you and Emily are a fit
Clients typically range from four to nineteen-years-old.
You may learn more about counselling by setting up a Jane profile and scheduling a 15 minute Complimentary Consultation to ensure you and Emily are a good fit to work together. Parents and children are welcome to this appointment. Teens might choose to attend on their own or with a parent(s).
Step Two
Step 2: Paperwork
If the Complimentary Consultation signals you and Emily are a good fit to work together, a few pieces of paperwork will need to be completed before beginning services:
Consent Form(s)
Fee Agreement Form
New Client Information Form
Step Three
Step 3: Scheduling
Parents of a child under the age of 13 are asked to schedule a 50 minute Parent Support appointment prior to the child's first session for treatment planning purposes.
Emily typically recommends children and teens new to counselling attend weekly sessions in the beginning and asks you reserve 6 consecutive sessions (one session/week).
Frequency of appointments will be discussed in the first and in on-going appointments. The goal is to reach an end-of-services date with your child, teen and family in a state of empowerment.
Please note:
In most cases, parents with a child under the age of 13 are strongly encouraged to check-in each month via a 50 minute Parent Support appointment if their child is actively engaged in regular counselling.
Emily does not provide court services but can refer you to professionals who specialize in this area if this is your family's need. Please do not proceed with services with Emily if this is your goal.
